In its new Optional configuration, completed in the spring of 2008, Lime Rock is a moderate speed track with new first- and second-gear corners, heavy braking and multiple shifts per lap. Having held major professional events continuously for more than 50 years, today Lime Rock Park is where the best and fastest drivers — Allan McNish, Tom Kristensen, Olivier Panis, Butch Leitzinger, Jan Magnussen, Max Papis, Mika Salo and David Brabham among them — annually do battle in the fascinating American Le Mans Series (ALMS) prototype championship. All the leading professional sanctioning bodies (Grand-Am, NASCAR, SCCA Pro Racing, IMSA) bring their series to Lime Rock.
