THE CLUB AT LIME ROCK PARK ANNOUNCES
"GUEST MEMBER DAY" PROGRAM
Prospective Members May Drive the Track on One of Sixty Dates
Lakeville, CT - (28 January 2008) The Club at Lime Rock Park has announced a new program for prospective members - an opportunity to drive the historic track. The "Guest Member Day" program offers drivers a chance to feel the pulse-quickening excitement of driving one of the world's most challenging road courses prior to making a decision on membership. Guests can select one of the sixty Club Member Days (www.limerockclubvip.com) in the 2008 season.
Lime Rock Park President Skip Barber says, "The best way to experience Lime Rock Park is to actually drive it. Even if you've never driven on a track before, coaches will show you how to get around this challenging road course."
In July 2007, Barber unveiled "The Club at Lime Rock Park," an exclusive, members-only motorsports club for automotive enthusiasts. The Club is open to drivers of all skill levels and caters to men and women who drive high-performance vehicles and want to use the track for personal enjoyment as well as networking.
The Club officially began operations last month with its first member meeting and Christmas party, and has more than 100 member commitments. Major renovations to the course and facilities - that will maintain the historic footprint and charm of the 50-year-old track - are scheduled to begin this winter with completion of many expected by the end of 2008.
New Club Member Robert Nimkoff says, "It's especially exciting to have this Guest Member Day program being launched against a backdrop of major upgrades to the track. I think it is phenomenal that guest members will be able to speak with Club members about their experience."
Construction is being funded by revenue raised through the sale of Club memberships. When Barber unveiled The Club last summer, he stated that a maximum of 300 memberships would be sold to raise funds for track and facility improvements, and to preserve Lime Rock Park as the Northeast's premier race course for the next fifty years.
Over the past 50 years, the 1.53 mile road course has challenged many of the world's finest drivers. Spectators have repeatedly been mesmerized by such race greats as Dan Gurney, Roger Penske, Parnelli Jones and Al Holbert, to name a few. Barber stressed that Lime Rock Park will continue to host popular spectator events and car club days.
Barber says that being a member of The Club at Lime Rock Park is special because race enthusiasts have the unique opportunity of driving on the same track as professional, well-respected race car champions.
Lime Rock Park is nestled comfortably in the lush green foothills of the Berkshire Mountains, and is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful and historic road racing facilities in North America, a perfect setting for a motor sport club and the only one currently open in the Northeast.
The fee for a Guest Member Day is $2,000, which can be applied to the membership initiation fee when someone joins The Club. Memberships to The Club carry a one-time fee of $110,000 which includes applicable Connecticut Dues Tax of $10,000. The length of membership is fifty years, and can be passed down in the immediate family or resold through The Club.
If you are interested in spectator events, the current 2008 schedule includes the Grand-Am GT Classic during Memorial Day Weekend, May 23-26, American Le Mans Northeast Grand Prix, July 11-12, Mohegan Sun NASCAR Camping World Series 200, August 15-16, and Rolex Vintage Festival, August 29-September 1.
