The Club at Lime Rock Park Announces
Nearly "A Member a Day" Has Joined Since Launch
First 28 Members Sign Up in 30 Days
Lakeville, CT - (18 August 07) Lime Rock Park president Skip Barber has announced that 28 members have joined The Club at Lime Rock Park in the first 30 business days since the launch announcement. Last month, Barber unveiled The Club at Lime Rock Park (www.limerockclub.com), which will accept 300 members, and afford them unprecedented access to the historic track. Members can choose twenty dates to drive on the track, from sixty dates, annually.
"Nearly a member a day has joined The Club at Lime Rock Park, and we are delighted with the response so far," said Barber. "We are seeing interest from far and wide - those intimately familiar with Lime Rock Park and others who are excited at the opportunity to share their interest in driving and cars."
According to Barber, new and prospective members are mostly from New England, with the most distant member to date being from Austin, Texas.
"Some of our new members have second homes in the area and are regular Lime Rock fans," added Barber. "Now they'll be able to enjoy Lime Rock Park in a whole new way - and bring their families and guests."
The first opportunity for new members to drive at Lime Rock Park is scheduled for August 29, 2007. Other member track dates scheduled for this Fall are September 24, October 3, and a date in November to-be-determined.
Barber recently announced the projected schedule for track and facility improvements that will be funded by the revenue raised through the sale of memberships. These improvements, scheduled to be completed in 2008-2009, include:
- A new "green" press facility and Member Clubhouse;
- An exclusive members pit lane;
- A more efficient and attractive entrance;
- Renovated bathrooms;
- A children's play area;
- Improved paddock drainage; and
- A slight reconfiguration of the track with the following objectives: making the downhill slower and more challenging; widening the narrower sections; and improving passing opportunities approaching the uphill. In addition, repaving will eliminate the bumps and the concrete patches, and the run-off areas on the downhill will be paved.
In addition, planned social events for members of The Club at Lime Rock Park for 2007-2008 were also recently announced and will include:
- Vintage Celebration and Dinner Party at Skip Barber's residence on Labor Day week-end
- Holiday Party
- Tour of Amelia Island Concours d'Elegance and R.M. auction
- Viva Italia! Club Member Travel Excursion to Italy and the Ferrari factory
- Summer Soiree in the Berkshires
- Guided Rally/Tour of New England Back Roads with Vintage Rallies; and
- Special members-only dinners with featured speakers during major Lime Rock events. Also, VIP passes and hospitality on race days.
"It remains critically important to me that the Lime Rock Park facility is significantly improved without losing any of its charm or character, something that I have strived to achieve with the improvements already made at the track," added Barber. "We are confident that our new members in The Club at Lime Rock Park will be proud of the improvements they make possible, while they enjoy the many benefits of membership, not least of which is access to this historic race track."
Lime Rock Park is nestled comfortably in the lush green foothills of the Berkshire Mountains, and is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful road racing facilities in North America. A perfect setting for a motor sport club and the only one currently open in the Northeast.
The membership cost at The Club at Lime Rock Park is $100,000 and the length of membership is 50 years. Membership can be passed down in the immediate family or resold through The Club. The membership dollars will be used to improve the entire Park.
Barber offers personal track tours, including lunch, a presentation, and a questions-and-answers session at Lime Rock Park for prospective Club Members. He provides the details of club membership, privileges and amenities, as well as a preview of the planned improvements that will make The Club at Lime Rock Park the premier motor sports club in North America.
Track tours will take place from 11:30 AM to 2:00 PM on the following dates: Saturday, August 25; Sunday, August 26; Friday, September 7; Saturday, September 8; Sunday, September 16; Friday, September 21; Saturday, September 22; Sunday, September 23; Friday, September 28; Saturday, September 29; and Sunday, September 30.
