LIME ROCK PARK INVITES "CASHMERE MAFIA" TO SHOOT AT THE TRACK
Character makes plans to talk business at the track in premiere
Lakeville, CT - (8 January 2008) Lime Rock Park race track has invited the cast and crew of ABC's new comedy series, "Cashmere Mafia" to shoot an episode at the track. During the show's first episode on January 6th, high-profile New York City Magazine Publisher Jack Cutting, played by guest star Tom Everett Scott, tells a business associate, "I'll catch you up tomorrow; I've booked us some track time at Lime Rock."
"Cashmere Mafia" follows the designer footsteps of "Sex and the City" by presenting the romantic lives of four ambitious, sexy women who have been friends since business school, juggling work and relationships in New York.
President of Lime Rock Park, Skip Barber, said, "We are very excited to have been noted in this new nationally-viewed comedy. It just confirms that this uniquely historical track is also regarded as a perfect venue in which to conduct important business."
Barber in July 2007 launched "The Club at Lime Rock Park (www.limerockclub.com),"
an exclusive, members-only motorsports club for automotive enthusiasts. The Club caters to business men and women who drive high-performance vehicles, and may use the track for pleasure as well as business.
Barber said, "in this day and age, when paid placements permeate the world of entertainment, it is refreshing to have Lime Rock Park cited simply because of the iconic landmark that it is. It reminds me of the time I turned on the Seinfeld show and saw the Skip Barber Racing School decal on the set of the kitchen refrigerator." Barber added that if ABC responds affirmatively to the invitation to shoot an episode at the track, The Club would provide a ready-made "cast" of dozens of race car drivers for a perfect backdrop in a natural, exciting setting.
Hundreds of celebrities from the worlds of entertainment, sports, and even politics have driven at Lime Rock Park over the years, including Paul Newman, Tom Cruise, and Jason Priestly.
Lime Rock Park is nestled comfortably in the lush green foothills of the Berkshire Mountains, and is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful and historic road racing facilities in North America, a perfect setting for a motor sport club and the only one currently open in the Northeast.
Memberships to the The Club carry a one-time fee of $110,000 which includes applicable Connecticut Dues Tax of $10,000. The length of membership is fifty years, and can be passed down in the immediate family or resold through The Club.
